  1. l'atto unilaterale della IBM che, togliendo il Premio di Risultato, diminuisce in modo sensibile la retribuzione dei lavoratori;
  2. l'atteggiamento negativo di netta chiusura su tutti i temi proposti nella Piattaforma aziendale votata dalla maggioranza dei lavoratori;

Coordinamento Nazionale RSU IBM Italia

24 settembre 2007

IBM workers virtually protest in Second Life

The National Coordinating Body of the Workers' Representatives of IBM Italy and the Italian Trade-Unions FIM FIOM UILM met on September 24, 2007 and after a long debate resolved to promote protest demonstrations with the intent to report:

  1. IBM unilateral notice of termination that considerably reduces the workers' pay, by removing the contractual performance bonus
  2. IBM negative attitude and IBM downright refusal to discuss all topics proposed in the union platform approved by the workers' majority
  3. the gap between the soaring IBM profits - where both the stock value increased 20% in the last 6 months and the executives' wages increased - and the actual steady decrease of the purchasing power of the workers' pay.

The demonstrations will exploit all available instruments and communication forms that could be useful for involving the workers in Italy as well as all those who - workers, unions and political associations, in Italy and all over the world - will agree on this protest and on the general principles for the safeguard and the recognition of the work and the workers' rights.

In this context, on September 27, 2007 a first protest demonstration on Second Life has been announced, with informative pickets in all IBM offices in Italy.

The technical and operational instructions to support the demonstration are available in many languages at: www.uniglobalunion.org/secondlife
