The employee representatives have expressed an opinion containing the following concerns:
III Regular Meeting - Opinion of EWC
The third Regular Meeting of the IBM European Works Council took place on March 21, 2001 in La Hulpe, Belgium.
The employee representatives want to deliver the following opinion in the end of meeting:
We want to welcome our new colleagues from Lotus to IBM and we are confident that integration will be successful and will have positive impact on the business. We would like assurance that the integration will not negatively affect the rights and the terms and conditions of employees and that all the employees in similar positions are treated equally.
When Lotus integration and other restructuring of company activities will be performed the information and consultation process should be used both on European level and on the national level in good time before implementation. If there are no national representative bodies or employee representatives, the EWC organisation should be used in the spirit of cooperation to get the consultation working in practice.
On behalf of employee representatives of IBM EWC
Risto Salmela
IBM EWC Secretary
